Urban Play – contemporary art, play and movement in urban space
Spring 2012
In 2012 the habour area in the Danish city Køge will be transformed into a gigantic temporary exhibition where art, play and movement will join forces. Curator from Råderum Charlotte Bagger Brandt and landscape architect Bettina Lamm from LIFE, University of Copenhagen (www.sl.life.ku.dk) have created Urban Play – a visionary project for Køge Habour. Ten national and international visual artists and landscape architects have been invited to create new art works that will incourage active participation and local engagement for the citizens of Køge.
The habour area is something special! In this area klondike meets industry, water meets the solid ground, and the open wide space meets alleys and the spaces in-between. Urban Play wants to rethink these unique spacial possibilities by including and challenging the traditions and the players using the area. Thus the exhibition will be a spectacular total installation catalysing play, interaction and dialog in a creative and surprising setting. The art works will be present in the habour area for 10 weekend in the spring/summer of 2012.
The exhibition is supported by Køge Kyst’s cultural funds. Køge Kyst is a partnership between The City of Køge and Realdania Arealudvikling. Køge Kyst will develop the area Søndre Havn, the area around the station and Collstropgrunden in Køge.
